If you wanna work on iPad and wanna use iPad as laptop,then you need at least four apps:
Pages: Microsoft Word for iPad. It can import word file and also export back to it.it’s totally
Compatible
Numbers: Microsoft Excel
Keynote:PowerPoint
GoodReader: this app works as file manager or My Document with a feature of downloader.It integrates with all WebDAV server,iWork, Google doc and it can download anything from almost any website. So if you wanna download movies and watch offline, you can do it.
It also saves all your email attachment sent and received at on place without even asking. So all your attachment are saved without doing anything. For me it’s a killer feature of iPad.

Netflix: free app lets you watch unlimited number of movies right on iPad with new or existing Netflix account.
Abc Player: :Free:watch FULL EPISODES of all the abc TV shows like V,Happy Town,Modern Family

Magic Piano – an amazing new way to play a piano.
Star Walk – a fantastic astronomy app that identifies heavenly bodies.
NPR – great news app with audio
Netflix – wonderful video quality
Scrabble – you can add iPhone tile racks to the game
Pandora – create your own radio station
Keynote – make presentations
