  1. If that’s what you want to do the Cable Internet would be OK.

DSL delivered by fiber such as Verizon FiOS or At&t U-Verse is also good.

If you are thinking that you can go with the cheapest DSL plan or a wireless mobile broadband plan and stream quality video such as Netflix, you will have problems.

Streaming video such as YouTube and Netflix require fast broadband Internet connections. DSL is generally the cheapest and slowest mainstream high speed Internet type.

You can go to http://speedtest.net and test the speed of your Cable Internet connection Remember, Internet speeds are measured in Mbps, which is millions of (bits) per second, not to be confused with MB/s which is millions of (bytes) per second

The FCC currently defines broadband Internet as a connection that is faster than 4 Mbps. Many DSL plans are not this fast. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadband_Internet_access

    WIRELESS PROVIDERS
Most cellular broadband plans are considerably slower and more expensive then their DSL or cable Internet counterparts.

Another problem with mobile broadband is the low monthly bandwidth limits. Video such as Netflix can consume huge amounts of bandwidth. Most cellular mobile broadband providers charge hefty overage fees when you exceed their 5GB or less monthly limits.

Even Cricket which advertises unlimited broadband will throttle your Internet speed to a crawl if you exceed 5 GB of bandwidth in a month. Read their Fair Usage Policy. http://www.mycricket.com/fairuse

Cellular mobile broadband is not intended to replace broadband DSL and Cable internet services which usually have fair usage limits of 250GB per month or less. Mobile broadband is intended for travelers and business people to get on the Internet when they’re away from home, it was not intended for heavy download usage.

    NETFLIX
Each TV that you want to stream NetFlix on will need a box or device such as a Netflix compatible blue ray player. https://www.netflix.com/Default?mqso=80015652&mkwid=sTKO1SwZG&pcrid=7302664164

If you live near a major city you can also get a fair amount of over the air programming bu using a small antenna

You may want to try hooking a few TV’s up to an antenna or online source such as NetFlix before making the jump to cut the cable. If you are satisfied, then go ahead and cancel the cable TV services.

To compare your Comcast broadband Internet plan pricing with local competitors, go to a ISP comparison site that lets you input your address, http://isp1.us/find/ and compare the pricing and terms of the offers that are available in your area.

The physical address is needed because some services, particularly DSL,are very distance sensitive. For example you might be able to get a specific level of service while your next door neighbor can’t.

You’ll want to pick the fastest plan that fits your budget. In some areas this can be 100Mbps+. But these high end broadband plans are expensive. You may find that something in the 5 to 30 Mbps range might satisfy your needs at a much lower cost.

Choose the best one for your Internet usage and budget.

    Good Luck…
