I dont think it was portraying that, but the Norse Gods historically viewed their women as equals. Hence why the Valkyrie are great warriors picking out the fallen in Midguard and the Valkyrie are all women.

Check out the prose and poetic eddas. This is actually religious, my not be as big as Christianity but that is due to the cruel expansion of it during the inquisitions. This is based on a historical religion of the North, far before Christ was born. As were the Roman Gods and Greek Gods, they may all seem Myth to us now but then it WAS religion and still is today. You couldnt call every person of that age crazy. Today people believe in one god and a son who settled sins, now that’s crazy.

What do they have to do with anything? Joan of Arc saw very little actual combat. She mostly inspired the troops. She wasn’t like Xena.
