I sincerely wish people would stop assuming that everyone is in USA. Many countries have different laws regarding this issue and downloading may not be a legal problem where the questioner lives.
Now to answer the question: Torrents are a good place to download most anything.
If u are in USA and looking for a legal site, I might suggest http://www.archive.org. Their items are public domain and free to download. U won’t find newer movies there, but I have found some very interesting older movies, cartoons, etc.
U don’t have to be in USA to access this site. I am in Canada and use it all the time.

well, unless you are looking for movies that have fallen from copyright then you are out of luck for legally downloading movies. But i hear that there are sites you can download movies illegaly, but really the only safe ones are the torrent sites. but i would never list anything illegal *cough piratebay.com, isohunt.com, demonoid.com *cough cough*
but i would only dabble in those things if you want to find something that is either out of print or extremely hard to find. but they are all generally extremely safe sites to download from. Not that ive ever downloaded from them or anything 😉
and if you dont know what torrents are, then just google it, its very hard to explain.
just make an account (you don’t have to pay anything- its all free)
i have an account and you can download pretty much anything. its great for finding rare movies and tv shows
people post movies in a variety of file formats onto that forum and its all very safe. i definitely recommend it

DO NOT TRUST “Trust Me :-)”.
I answer questions like this often on here and I always see her/his name giving that same answer with a link that forwards you to a video but you have to fill out a survey before you can watch it. Well anyone who sends you to one of those sites is trying to scam you, I was scammed by one of those sites in the past.
Now to answer your question I believe every website can be dangerous if you don’t have virus protection. If you don’t have any then I recommend you get Avast.
It’s really good for downloading movies. (If what you want to download is a new film that’s not out on DVD then it probably will be a pirate copy (poor quality). Key words to look out for when searching is DVD Rip or Blu-ray Rip. Then it will be a nice clear copy.
When you search films with that search engine I recommend you type the year the film was released at the end of the title. You can find this out here.
Don’t forget to not trust those websites who ask you to fill out surveys before watching the video. All they want is your phone number and then they will begin charging you every week.
