  1. malwarebytes isn’t antivirus software although it’s considered software that can detect and remove malware that even the most well known anti-virus and anti-malware applications fail to detect.

    Free antivirus software I’ve used:
    AVG
    Avast
    Avira(currently using)

  2. windows defender

  3. Comodo is better than anything else mentioned so far.

  4. I am a black hat. Use AVG. It’s not going to help much, but AVG helps the most for free.

the better ones are on the top right
    AVAST is good
It is the only free one with root kit protection
It also has boot scan in the free package

Comodo, its not one of the better ones if you look at the VB100 site
Microsoft has such a bad product, they don’t even submit it here for review
99.9% of the others do however

    hope this helps

  6. Malwarebytes antimalware cannot be used as a replacement of an antivirus program, it is considered to be the next step in the detection and removal of malware.
I recommend you to download and install Microsoft Security Essentials for antivirus protection, it is free, and effective.

  7. Well, Malwarebytes isn’t an anti-virus program. It’s an anti-malware program. I use McAfee Antivirus Plus as my antivirus because it includes anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, and intrusion detection.

  8. The best anti-virus is Kaspersky or Norton but they are not free. Kaspersky does offer a free online scan but it doesn’t remove what it finds. Second best free are Avast and AVG and others. The Microsoft firewall that comes free with XP and Vista is quite good but unfortunately provides no visibility. If you need visibility, try the free Zone Alarm. Zone Alarm is very good but it is difficult for me to say it is the best. The best firewalls are not free. You have phishing filters in Firefox 3 and IE 7 and IE 8 (Smart Screen Filter) and AVG. It’s strictly a question of how often the phishing filter database gets updated with accurate information. It’s tough to say which is best.

  9. Best and Trusted Free Anti Virus programs on the market are:

    – AVG Anti-Virus Free

    – avast! Free Antivirus

    – PC Tools AntiVirus Free

    – Microsoft Security Essentials

Note: If you use more than one secondary antivirus program, make sure you’re only running one at a time. If these programs ever ask you if you would like to turn on active protection, as many of them will do, click “No.”
