Security In The Cloud – Truecrypt

  1. Truecrypt does have some limitations with VM. The best source of information can be found in the Truecrypt Forums on the truecrypt website.

  2. can the TrueCrypt application to virtualization software like VM’s,Xen etc..if yes please tell me the implementation.

  3. ok thank you

  4. Once you place your files in the Virtual Drive (k) you need to Dismount or Unmount the Volume and then the files will be stored in the container and encrypted. The K drive will disappear until you mount it again.

  5. we are creating one drive(say K) like C:,D:,E:,F:and in that drive we are placing files..we are able to open the drive without any password then what kind of security we are able to provide to that drive?

  6. It is important that you choose a good password for Truecrypt. 15 – 20 random characters – numbers, uppercase, lowercase, symbols etc. While nothing is unhackable, it would be nearly impossible to break the encrypton in a reasonable (years) amount of time. If you did not choose a good one you can create a new container and a new password.

  7. if the password that is given by us during installation is hacked by someone then please suggest me the solution

  8. I would just use Boxcryptor with Skydrive, Dropbox or Google Drive. If the file is deleted on your Laptop it will be still backed up online.

  9. Thanks for answer. So what do you recommend me to use truecrypt for offline purposes on business laptop or something like that. How to hide that file? You know that when ‘you’ connect on local internet in your company building that informations can be checked by supervizors etc.
I just want to use truecrypt in offline purposes if someone steals my HDD or breaks in it ( You never know ). Boxcrypto is for online only and so far is good.

  10. Unfortunately, a Truecrypt file is just like any other file it can be deleted. There are ways to try and prevent a Windows file from being deleted, but they are difficult to setup. That is the nice thing about using Boxcryptor with Dropbox or Google Dive. You would have a copy of your file on Dropbox if the local copy on your desktop was deleted.

  11. Part 2. I am asking this because i don’t want to have backup of that on my flash drive and when i want to update my container i have to copy 1 file 2 times on each container ( i think )… Help me what to do.

  12. Hello PrestwickGeek. I would like to use Truecrypt in offline purpose and i am using atm boxcrypto in online purpose. What if i have business laptop from company and my personal files i have in my truecript ‘file’ on desktop. One day my laptop breaks down ( some silly problem ) and i give it to company guy to fix it and he finds my file on desktop and he wants to open it but cant, after that he delete it, can he do that? I mean can he delete that? Or file is protected from deletion.

  14. thanks, I saw your other video on 7zip and decided to use that. I can’t open the files in google drive, but ok to store them there. 7zip is great

  15. Yes, I have used Truecrypt with a Google Drive (Basic Account). One thing that I noticed with Google Drive, may be important. When you create your encrypted container and add files to the container, you may just change one or two files. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, Google Drive, unlike Dropbox, will upload the entire container rather than just updating the two files in the container. So if you have a 2GB container it will upload the entire thing. This can be slow. Check out Boxcryptor.

  16. can I upload Truecrypt encyped filed to the (non) download google drive that you get with your basic google account?

  17. Good job.
