you ewither got riped or the hdd is not formated properly, go into computer and right click the hdd and format then choose NTFS instead of FAT32 and quick format, then just format it, if that doesnt work then you just got scammed and if you got in stoe and take it there and request a refund/replacement.
BEWARE: Foramtting a hard drive causes it to loose all the data stored on it, so backup any important data, and dont format this hdd if it has your Operating system on it

nunca, nem mesmo com dois windows instalados, se você comprar um HD de 300gb, provavelmente instalando o windows 7 ficará com +/- uns 294gb, se for windows XP ficará uns 297 gb, então, nunca vai acontecer em ficar 120gb com um HD de 300gb. Espero ter ajudado.

If you have windows 7 its a easy and quick fix.
in your start menu right click Computer and go to Manage.
on the left menu go to Disk Management (it takes a while for all the stuff to load)
find the 320gb hard drive and right click it. choose Extend Volume then unlock what your missing.
you might need to reformat.

thats why i dont use external hdd anymore are full with problems and the funny thing you dont even know when they will crash and lose all your data!!! I moved towards cloud backup and never seen back since then!
Best solution is to register with an online backup service so you can backup your files secure to the cloud remotely because even if you backup to HDD you are in a danger to still lose your data except hat is expensive to have hardware to backup because they get destroyed and the funny thing you dont know when it will happen!
I use the backup-easy website that offers Asigra software in really affordable prices http://www.backup-easy.com/backup-pricing-packages for home users and they give out more than one PC license so you can backup more than one PC at home or office. Their software has four level of security and does not throttle CPU power.
I used many cloud backup solutions and this is the one i use because its reliable and easy to backup automatically when you change files.
