  1. Start with Microsoft Security Essentials.

    http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

  2. you should use the word “anti virus or anti spyware” rather than spyware/virus program.
There are many good free anti virus programs.
I recommend using malwarebytes antimalware. It is an excellent program.Download it from
    malwarebytes.org
If you are having genuine Windows operating system, then you can also download Microsoft Security essentials.Download it from:
    http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
Avast is another good antivirus which is free.Download it from:
    avast.com

I use both Microsoft Security Essentials and MalwareBytes Anti malware. They together provide excellent security.

  3. . Its called open source program. ESET or Quick Heal is the best antivirus program. If you want to make virus then read my artical on atecnicalblog.blogspot.com

  4. Part 1.

-Reboot your computer and press f8 while it is loading on whatever type your computer is, (It would most likely say dell if you’re using one.)
    -Enter Safe Mode with Networking

-Get on the internet and download Malware Bytes anti Malware from http://www.malwarebytes.org

    Part 2.

    -Run a full scan
-Check the quarantine for any viruses, trojans.

You will most likely be able to just delete them all, but some can be sticking to other programs, make sure to check that out before then.

    Part 3.

Reboot computer, scan it again, if it’s clean, good.

If you are not able to get it cleaned then, you should temporarily shut down Malwarebytes.
Go back to safe mode with networking
    Get a program called combofix.

Download combofix and change the name of the executable. You can left click it and change the name from there. YOU MUST CHANGE THE NAME.
    Run combofix as an admin.

    Combofix will do its work.

REMEMBER : YOUR OTHER ANTIVIRUS MUST BE DISABLED OR REMOVED DURING THIS TIME.
Note, combofix will delete most of the rough stuff.
Other note, get comobofix from bleeping computer. Just search Combofix Bleeping Computer on google for it.

At this time, you can finally run malwarebytes again. You can also grab superantispyware if you need to.
    Destroy that malware!

If push comes to shove, you might have to factory restore it. You can backup most of your important stuff getting a USB I think.

  5. If you need a free antivirus program, I would recommend that you try using Microsoft Security Essentials, which can be downloaded from the link below.

    http://Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials

In addition to running frequent antivirus scans, I would also suggest that you run frequent antispyware scans.

If you need a free antispyware program, perhaps you should try using MalwareBytes, which can be downloaded from the link below.

  6. These are a few tips to help secure your computer at least somewhat … .I am not saying non of these programs do not have false-alarms or you’ll be 100% protected all the time.. These are just a few tips. PLEASE do not let people talk you into “you get what you pay for” .. with the few exceptions like Eset’s NOD32 Antivirus … Most of my favorite and security site “best programs” are free. Eset for instance you have to pay for but provides TOP NOTCH detection too

    Anti-viruses –

There are many different review sites and many different opinions… I recently saw in a recent (December 2010)PCWorld Magazine a rating of free antiviruses … I have to say I think its pretty accurate … Not sure if they rated AVG… but if it was (the ratings were 1 to 5 … best to worst) than AVG would be #6 (in other-wards, not even on the list)

    1) Avast – ( http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download ) (Feb 11, 2010 Update to Avast Comment) I always saw potential with Avast, not counting that for the most part (other then perhaps one type of virus … Avira rates better) Avast rates #1 when it comes to the free scanners and rates higher then MANY shareware scanners (anything not free) ..

After Reinstalling Avast on my older system (5.0.x of Avast), I NO LONGER noticed the significant slowdown I did before …Compared to Avira, it still lags the system EVER SO SLIGHLTY, but that may be, me being picky

    2) Avira – ( http://www.avira.com/en/avira-free-antivirus ) This is what I have on my old laptop and what I had (Trying Avast on my new Toshiba ATM) on my new PC before trying Avast…. I love Avira and even if I am using Avast … I still recommend Avira 100% … Detection only slightly behind Avast … they deducted “points” for the fact they like Avast’s Interface better. If I am installing an Antivirus on a system that may not have the largest amount of memory or it may have an older processor …. I choice (just my opinion) to install Avira on it. Even my older system (XP, 768MB Ram, 1.79GHz Processor), has NO slowdown at all with Avira and it’s great protection.

    3) MS Security Essentials – I have to say I don’t trust MS, but I have to given in and say all the reviews are very positive .. I don’t like how it forces you to have windows updates on “download and install automatically” .. or right out of the “box”/”gate”/whatever .. I had to install 60MB of updates ON top of the I think it was 12MB for the Anti-virus itself … but for newbies that really don’t like Avast, or Avira for whatever reason … It’s a decent choice.. with the exception of one test that rated 50% detection and Avira rated 70%, MS SE is on par with Avira Detection wise …. Did MS finally get something right?… If they slim down there database and let you change the Windows Update settings when MS SE is install… I’d say 100% yes

Those are all Free, but if you feel the need to want to pay for one (for whatever reason), try Eset NOD32 … its the only non-free antivirus I recommend and it didn’t even lag my older systems

    Malware/Spyware related –
The only two products I would recommend are both freeware and the best at what they do. MalwareBytes ( http://www.malwarebytes.org/ ) -(a must have in my opinion), and SuperAntispyware ( http://www.superantispyware.com/)

maybe the only other addition would be Spyware Blaster ( http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/ )

Honestly, the other scanners are not worth it…. even the freeware scanners are not really worth it if you ask me.

  7. there are some free ones provided by some companies, paid one is better, you know have more funtions, anyhow, people do use free ones, like avast, avg, microsoft security essentials, …etc.
have anti virus software installed is better than have nothing, even if it’s a free one

  8. As of right now the 2 good antivirus for free is AVG Or Avast i use avast however cause it seems to catch the most dangerous viruses such as trojans and worms and along with that i also use ad-aware which removes those advertising viruses if you know what i mean also spyware so i think you should download those 2 programs

  9. If your looking for a FREE one then download AVG. Its completely free and does its job. http://free.avg.com

  10. You have a wide choose among FREE spyware/virus program to download:
    1) Avira AntiVir Personal Edition
    2) Microsoft Security Essentials
    3) Avast! Free Antivirus
    4) Panda Cloud Antivirus
    5) AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
Avira AntiVir Personal Edition is my top pick for the best free antivirus software if you are looking for the best protection against virus, spyware and rootkit threats. AntiVir is very light on resources and the detection rate of malware is outstanding, better than almost every other antivirus according to tests.

  11. I use AVG, the full version is not free obviously, but I use the free version and download torrents and music and have never gotten a virus
