I use the AVAST on my Xp box and MSE on the Windows 7 64 bit OS box
Sandboxie slowed my computer down after 30 days so I uninstalled it ( i did recommend it at one time)
Malwarebytes is not an antivirus, its a tool to remove bugs after you get infected in the free version.

The best free anti virus/spyware software for a Windows computer is Microsoft Security Essentials. It was built by Microsoft for Microsoft computers. It is updated daily and runs quietly in the background. It doesn’t use much bandwidth and has been proven to be very reliable and secure.

Download Microsoft Security Essentials – it’s free, light-weight and is supposed to defend against spyware, viruses, worms, trojans, and other malicious software.
If I can remember, there is a 50% off Symantec promotion for student. But I don’t know if it still exist now. Anyway, if you still want a free antivivrus, there are plenty of choices:
