Livedrive is the Best Cloud Storage PC Backup

  1. Mega.co.nz the new site offers 50GB free storage, more than most others. You could try and make 10 accounts lol.

Dropbox is also a good idea as it’s popular and accessible from mobile devices.

  2. It really depends on what you need. There really isn’t a difference between “online backup, and “online cloud storage,” ‘Cloud backup’ is just a term that has become vogue in the last few years. The older online backup services usually don’t allow as much data to be backed up

Since you have so much data, there really isn’t any escaping a paid service. The only other option would be external backup at home, but I’m assuming you’ve already explored, and eliminated that option. I’m a big fan of Google products, but their Drive, along with Microsoft, Dropbox, and Apple’s iCloud offering still have some issue to work out before they’re really considered top tier. There are some services that offer free cloud storage with service, or software purchase, but getting a service that you might not be interested might not be the answer either.

I’ve demoed pretty much every service from SugarSync, BackupGenie, and Carbonite. I’m an IT professional, and I fix computers on the side. Over the last few years, “what’s the best online cloud service-” is the most common question I get. Taking into account security, ease of file backup, cost, and storage limit, JustCloud would be your best bet- with MyPCbackup coming in at a close second. Both offer unlimited storage under $ 4 per month, are Amazon S3 partners, which means they have 99.99999999999% durability. Also, both have simple software that you download to your computer, which makes backup simple. Many of my clients aren’t the most technically inclined. I get calls because for the silliest things, so ease of backup is very important.

Google has been making some serious headway in the cloud computing, and storage field- and I can definitely see them being at the head of the pack in a year. But for now, JustCloud, or MyPCBackup would be your best bet.
