Not only did I go through all that, during my contemplation of whether or not to do it, they sent another email making it sound as if I didn’t upgrade then my “free” backed up files could be vulnerable to theft. I pressed them about how deceptive their advertising tactics seemed to be to me and they merely responded rather indifferently and with a diffusionary response. Just be UP FRONT!!

Their service is HORRIBLE! They have hidden upgrades and if you try to cancel… you have to email them 5 or 6 times. If you fail to respond (thinking you would only need to request once to cancel) they will keep your account open! They are SLOW! They are SLICK! They have POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Crashplan has a totally free option for unlimited GBs, and it works fine.
It is for backup, which mean it scans your system on a regular basis.
