How To Start A Spot Instance on Amazon EC2

  1. First, please don’t make a decision based upon the misinformation from the spammer above me. He cuts and pastes the same text no matter what the question is, and no matter what the reality is. Even worse, he’s been using that same text about the Kindle being a stone age device since before the release of the new versions.

If you just want an ebook reader, you’ll definitely want an e-ink device. They use much less battery power, which means that battery life is generally measured in weeks. Also, e-ink is much easier on the eyes than LCD and less likely to produce eye strain. The Kindle Touch and Kindle Keyboard both support mp3 files, so you can also listen to audiobooks on them or play music while reading, which may or not be a feature that interests you.

As for how many books they can hold, ebooks are small. They’re usually only a few MB each. Most readers, even the smallest, can easily hold 1000+ ebooks.

Personally, I’ve had the Kindle 3 for a bit over a year now and am very happy with it. My only complaint, which is common to most ebook readers, is that it doesn’t handle footnotes well. Past that it’s a great device.

As for the Kindle Fire vs the Nook Tablet, take a look at reviews at both sites. Both have around 80% of the reviewers giving the respective devices 3 stars or higher. But Kindle sales are way higher – the Kindle Fire now has over 5000 reviews while the Nook Tablet has under 200, despite the fact that they were released at the same time. Amazon has a bigger ecosystem that’s much better integrated, although you’re free to also purchase from third parties.
