McAFee is weak. Kaspersky is the best to remove viruses. But it cannot repair the side effect of viruses. To repair it, use Combofix. It is free.

Norton is a much more sophisticated program. It’s also much more gentle on your computer, and it not only detects suspicious things on your computer, but investigates it and decides whether or not it’s dangerous/potentially dangerous

Different Antivirus has their own field of advantage. McAfee and Norton is very well known antivirus but for personal use, i feel that they give a lot of load on a personal computer. I suggest kaspersky or est nod32. They are very simple and cheaper, runs in the background without hustles. Avg is also ok but if you are using keygens and cracks usually it detects it as a virus.

McAfee and Norton SUCK! Expensive, resource pigs, hard to uninstall, bad all the way around. Install Antivir Personal Antivirus from download.com, it’s FREE! ALSO, install Malwarebytes which is actually more important because it’s the best at detecting Malware, Adware, Hijackware, and Spyware. But you need both! They are free, they are the best and I guarantee it!

You can try out the kaspersky complete package…i think its worth cause it had helped me a lot to identify harmful files..

I felt that McAfee is too heavy and it slows down the computer’s speed. If you are up for buying any anti virus, go for Kaspersky anti-virus. You can find that on amazon.
Anti virus softwares are all the same, having different methods to search for virus at the back-end. It depends upon how you utilize it to remove viruses. Most of the antivirus fail because the new viruses are able to control these anti virus softwares.
The trick i used to do is:
1. open a notepad
2. type something
3. then press shutdown
a msgbox appears asking whether i want to save the notepad or not
4. Select nothing and wait for few more seconds
you will notice all the items, processes and softwares are ended except for notepad.
Now press cancel on that msgbox and run the antivirus, do the scan ‘without using the explorer’

Just because it never finds anything, doesn’t mean it’s not doing its job. Anti-virus programs do 2 things – detect & block them from getting on the computer initially, and run scans to detect & remove any that may have sneaked in somehow.
If you have 2 anti-virus programs on the computer at the same time, this can cause problems because they will conflict & sometimes will stop the other from doing its job.
