Legally, commercial studio/TV/theatrical films are pay, no matter what. Don’t even thing of them being free, it just won’t happen, online anyways. The only legally free outlet for them is broadcast TV.
You can find some independent or public domain films online though, from sites such as archive.org .

hulu.com is just one of many sites. broadcast networks do it through ads as they always have.

This is the one I love the most at the moment. It has tons of different movies in it and also many episodes of different old and new tv series.
