Hello twilighter, of course Nook Tablet is better than Kindle Fire – it’s like day and night in terms of the device performance. At this time known issues with Kindle Fire are that it runs hot to touch, video playback is jerky, touch screen is not responsive and it takes 2-3 touches to register, power button placement is very poor and is prone to accidental power off, all the hype of Silk browser is not true where the browsing is actually slower than on other Android tablets, Wi-Fi connection gives a lot of trouble to users on it, etc.
I got my Nook Tablet recently and it’s as good as all pro reviews on the web said it was. Superb screen with not much glare thanks to lamination, lag-free video playback, super-fast app loading and activity, built-in microphone for Skype and physical volume controls on the side (not on Kindle Fire). It’s got Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Angry Brids, etc., the best battery life, the best non-glare laminated screen, double the RAM and space for apps/photos/movies. Netflix has millions of movies (much more than Amazon store) and B&N ebook store has more content than Amazon’s with 2.5 million paid books and 2 million free public domain ones. Also it’s worth mentioning that if you walk in with any Nook to Barnes & Noble store, you’ll get tech support and you’re allowed to read ANY available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi.

Before making a decision based upon misinformation from a spammer who works for Barnes and Noble (above), go to both Amazon and B&N’s sites and read actual reviews. Also, keep in mind several things that he doesn’t mention.
The biggest difference between the two tablets is the ecosystem that supports each. B&N sells ebooks. They don’t sell music or video. They offer no streaming service. They offer no cloud storage. If you want music or video then you have to go through a third party app like Netflix or Pandora. Also, while the Nook has more internal storage, it’s all reserved for books purchased at B&N. You have 1GB of space for any files you obtain elsewhere and load yourself. This means you have no choice buy to buy an SD card and use that to store your files. Amazon sells music and offers video rental and downloads. You can stream video as well. If you want to, you can use the exact same third party apps like Pandora and Netflix as on the Nook, in addition to having the option of buying through Amazon. They offer free cloud storage for anything you buy from them, so it doesn’t have to be stored locally. There is no space reserved for Amazon content, so you can load as much of your content as you want.
The killer in in the actual numbers. The Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet were released at the same time. Amazon currently has 6,147 reviews for the Kindle Fire. 4,915 (79.9%) of those are three stars or higher. B&N by comparison has a whopping 189 reviews for their Nook Tablet. Of those, 157 (83%) are three stars or higher. People are equally happy with both. Negative reviews of the Nook include complaints about problems with the wifi, bad customer service, units freezing, crashing and overheating and more.
