the simplest and freest thing you can do is when u get home plug it in make a folder on your desktop and highlight and drag all the stuff in your USB to that folder
1 of the Software is Norton Ghost 11 or better, downlaod it from any website and then make backup of ur Usb , if u make from Dos that will be better , may be ghost didnt detect it in windows
