Cloud Computing: Microsoft Cloud Service Offerings

  1. as a small business owner, i thought office 365 brings the COMPLETE desktop experience to the cloud. Google docs lacks a variety of formatting tools but you could replicate at least most of the desktop functions. hope microsoft improves. at the moment, i’ll stick with google at no cost.

  2. The worst AV without qualifiers is probably Norton.

Not that it doesn’t work, but that it spends so much time waving the company flag
to tell you it’s there to convince you it’s doing something to justify renewing your
subscription to it that it becomes quite annoying.

not to mention the system resources it constantly occupies slowing all operations down.

Frankly Norton is little better than some viruses

I use Microsoft security essentials myself, and it does it’s job.
It might not be the best if you spend time doing high risk browsing
    where viruses are found…

  3. The truth is it really is better. It is the replacement for Windows defender. An Anti Virus and Malware program. Why is it better? It is created by their own private source codes and works very well with Microsoft Windows in protecting your computer better. Third party vendors do not have access to Microsoft”s private source codes. To button up the computer, you would run Immunet Clam Antivirus because it scans everything being downloaded, out going and the programs you install. Problem is people want every thing to be fast and in a rush so they don’t install a program like Immunet. You can use any thing you want and your computer will still get attacked at some time or another. There is no way of knowing what will or will not protect your computer the best since no one’s browsing behaviors are the same.

  4. Hi There,

I have been using Microsoft Security Essentials for two years on my Win 7 computer.
No problems yet. Do not have Spybot S&D on this machine for spyware protection.

Have used Avast and Avira (free versions) with good success on another computer (only one at a time).I have been using Spybot S&D along with Avast and Avira to guard against spyware.

They worked fine but I did get a virus last month while using Avast so I changed to Panda Cloud antivirus.

Panda Cloud antivirus works very fast and so far no viruses. Also run Spybot.

Adaware has a new version that includes antivirus protection along with spyware protection.
This is a free version and had a good rating in Smart Computing magazine but I have not tried it yet.

But to answer your question: MSE seems to be as good as other anrivirus apps to me.
    Hope this helps,
    Al
