  1. There is lots online movie maker. But you can try VideoCrisp or Dvolver or Stupeflix etc

  2. The free programs (and there aren’t many of them anymore) are all generally very basic. To get anything with any pizzazz, you’ve got to move up to commercial (paid) programs. I started monitoring the program give-away sites for programs and got the Wondershare DVD Slide Show Builder.

The free programs do a decent job of it but lack the templates and other colorful extras the paid programs have. TechSupportAlert has a listing of the more popular slide show programs. I’ve used this site for 7 years because it’s reviews are usually spot-on and the comments also refer to useful programs.

I’ve installed and have used Slide Show GUI and ffDiaporama and both are a tad complicated. Photostory is an older Microsoft program that works on my Windows 7 computer. It’s wizard controlled and easy to use but it’s not really a move up from Movie Maker.

The two give-away sites I monitor are Give Away Of The Day and Clarysoft. They basically present software from smaller companies that need the public exposure. Some software is great, some not so great so it pays to read the comments before downloading. A few of the best software makers are Wondershare, Two Pilots, Leawo, Teorex, Aiseesoft, DesktopPaints (one of my favorites) and there are others that you’ll get to know as you monitor the sites, the ratings and the comments.

The Ashampoo video editor being given away today is a limited version of their video editor and really isn’t worth the download if you already have Movie Maker.
