First, try clearing your cache. You do that in Preferences on a Mac or Tools on PC. If you are on a cable connection, the cable companies are really slow to install additional DNS servers so it takes forever to resolve the IP address (numbers like 208.67.222.222 ) to the name server (website names like opendns.com). There are a number of blazing fast safe public dns hosts that you can use instead at no cost. Speakeasy.net has great ones, so does opendns.com.
