  1. Very good, if your running linux you can access to your new server just using ssh like this:
    ssh -i yourkey.pem ec2-user@theelasticipassigne

  2. Very simple intuitive and straight forward tutorial. thanks.

  3. great tutorial! now i know what the heck i’m doing :P

  4. Thanks, really helpful

  5. Very good tutorial. In the past I had been working through Cpanel, phpMyAdmin & FTP servers to access my files & databases. I do not know what SSH is all about. Do I need to be an expert in the same to be able to host my website on EC2?

  6. I got a question about Amazon EC2. Did you try Cluster GPU Instances and how is Amazon services charged? I know there is a price for an hour usage but what if you use it less than an hour? Do you pay less?

  7. Great tutorial

  8. awesome that amazon provide you with a free vps for 12 months for new customers. This will be good for beginners indeed or users like me who will use it for a push server.

    Excellent tutorial jream

  9. Thanks for the excellent video tutorial.

  10. You stink of back bacon and maple syrup eh!

  11. Thanks..straight to the point

  12. like!

  13. I don’t know much about EC2, but I do know that if you want a small basic HTML site, Amazon EC2 and similar services are emphatically *not* what you want. You want a basic shared hosting service offered by places like dreamhost, inmotionhosting, and godaddy. Once set up you’d use an FTP client to put your files on the server and you’re good to go. Shared hosting = cheap, basic, and easy. Having to manage your own service, virtual or not, is expensive and hard.

  14. Very well made tutorial. I like your video series, very easy to understand.

  15. Thanks a lot for a great introduction!

  16. really helpful! thanks!

  17. i followed all steps which are mentioned in this video and successfully created the cloud instance and its running, but I’m unable to connect to server the keypair which i created and then downloaded from amazon. I don’t know how this pem file can be used in putty. if i use the normal putty client under SSH and then Auth and click on browse button then it requires the private key file, kindly help me any other easiest way.

  18. @JREAMdesign Great video thanks man saved me hours!!!!

  19. How much does a server cost in EC2 that would be somewhat equilivant to a VPS in regular hosting?

  20. Thats a good point I didnt even realize that! I shouldnt have selected all TCP rules! LOL

  21. Yeah you have to know how to use the Terminal. This would be for someone who wanted to scale their website to something large. You could install a control panel like CPanel, Webmin (free) or plesk. This would be a fairly advanced thing to get started on though, Im still not that good with my own VPS.

  22. At 2:50 I don’t understand why you have selected both 0-65535 and all the individual ones.

  23. I still don’t get what I can do with amazon EC2 , can I run my websites there and do we have to know how to use the terminal?

  24. thanks

  25. I’d get an android-based tablet with at least one usb jack and a memory card slot. I’d then load open office onto it and plug in a mouse. If it works, then I can edit documents almost like with a normal computer 😀

  26. Kindle is only for reading. Ipad has an operating system that does so much more. I would go with the Ipad – it’s still the best thing I bought I’ve never regretted it. I use it all the time.

It will change how you work and play. I listen to audio book, I have hundred of pdfs read. I watch youtube, I talk notes on my ipad using a stylus and record my lectures. Games ofcourse, plus many cool utilities that just amazging. And I’ve havent paid for an app yet!

  27. Hi, Alexa, of course iPad2 is a much better device but it also is heavier and much more expensive. Nook Color (or rumored to be released soon Nook Color 2) from Barnes & Noble and Kindle Fire are less functional but also lighter and cheaper devices. Limitations of Kindle Fire are known to be as following:
    1. Kindle Fire doesn’t have microSD slot that, for example, Nook Color has thus it is stuck with 6 GB usable internal storage unlike Nook Color that can get up to 32 GB card in. Kindles are made to be almost like a “dumb terminal” of the past to make sure you’re tied up to Amazon’s storage on the web (for which you need Wi-Fi connection to get to) and you can only store content you get from Amazon there, not other files. Quoting Amazon on Kindle Fire: “Free cloud storage for all Amazon content”. Get it, Amazon content?
    2. The stats of how long the battery can last (Kindle Fire theory is 7.5 hours) are taken with Wi-Fi off. It will last only about 3 hours if you use it to access content from their Cloud storage over Wi-Fi.
    3. Amazon can spy on your web activity through their new cloud-integrated web browser of Kindle Fire.
    4. VERY IMPORTANT – lack of microSD slot means that if you decide to root your Kindle Fire, you’ll have to root the actual device thus there will be no coming back. On Nook Color, you can make it boot from a “rooted” microSD card and if you want to get back to the original Nook you can just take out the card and reboot.
    5. Kindle Fire doesn’t have a camera.
    6. Kindle Fire has about 70% less usable screen area than iPad 2.
    7. Kindle doesn’t support eBooks in ePub format that is the most used format in the world.
    8. Kindle app store contains only Amazon approved apps and it does not include (and will not include) Netflix app that iPad has and Nook Color is getting thus again you’re stuck with Amazon content only.
    9. Amazon confirmed that you cannot download/stream anything to Kindle Fire when traveling outside US.
    10. Amazon says it will review every app in its Appstore for Fire compatibility, as part of an automated process. Rejected apps will include those that rely on a gyroscope, camera, WAN module, Bluetooth, microphone, GPS, or micro SD. Apps are also forbidden from using Google’s Mobile Services (and in-app billing), which, if included, will have to be “gracefully” removed. In terms of actual content, Amazon has outlawed all apps that change the tablet’s UI in any way (including theme- or wallpaper-based tools), as well as any that demand root access.
    11. I’d recommend waiting for Nook Color 2 that is rumored to be released by Barnes & Noble shortly.

  28. I think that you should go for the Kindle Fire as it sounds like that is what you would benefit from because of the price, also browsing is almost the same between the two devices and it will obviously vary on the internet connection that you have it connected to.

I think you would really benefit from reading a review of the Kindle Fire and seeing i it meets any of your standards which you have for the tablet
