  1. It’s a rogue form. Reboot in safe mode and download this to remove it

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/

To reboot into safe mode, restart and hit f8 while it’s loading and choose safe mode with networking

  2. Well if you are using Windows Vista. it may be stopped from control pannel. if yes you are using it lemme know

  3. There’s a fake MSE alert virus going around, and that’s probably what you have.
    Start with Malwarebytes:

  4. This my friend is a Trojan virus called Win32/Trojan/MSEfakealert. Everytime you open up any executable program it will pop up saying it found a virus. Here is a video of basically what it looks like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G9Z14Cg8-o, and what you could try to get around it. Once you get around it. (You may have to boot in safe mode. To do that, restart your computer, and while it’s going through loading your OS keep tapping F8 and it’ll give you an option to boot in safe mode)

I recommend getting online and downloading and installing both Malwarebytes Anti-malware (www.malwarebytes.org)and superantispyware (superantispyware.com) and doing a full scan on both.

Also download and install comodo firewall, which will completely block and isolate the virus from messing with your critical files with it’s HIPS and Sandbox technology. http://www.comodo.com

Microsoft Security Essentials is a legit product, but this virus acts and looks exactly like MSE and trys to trick you into installing a fake AV software.

I recommend downloading Avast Antivirus along with the comodo firewall or even Comodo Internet Security (It’s own anti-virus with cloud scanning technology with the firewall) for anti-virus protection, or even Avira Antivir. Remember to disable any firewall you’re currently using before installing Comodo Firewall. But make sure you took care of the virus first, you don’t want your firewall to be off with that nasty bug messing with your critical files.

I hope this information helps! Remember to watch the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G9Z14Cg8-o.

These are all amazing free security programs that will help prevent from being infected in the first place.

    I hope this information helps!

P.S: To tell if it’s the legitimate Microsoft Security Essentials, the title most likely won’t have the word “Alert” on the name of the pop up, and the virus file is *supposedly* finds has the word unknown in it, for example : unknown win32/Trojan.

The process is called hotfix.exe, if you see that in task manager, terminate it.

    Good luck!
