  9. I would suggest you to ask your school if they have a speckifc programs they use that can only run on mac or windows,

    after that ask them if theirs a minimum requriment to run them,

    then start to look

    you dont want to buy a laptop and then try to use but cant b/c it cant handle what you need it for or cant run your progs.

    I would go with a mac b/c they have the option to run windows and mac on them and they never break down and for movie editing their good.

  10. there u go , here u can find all the best selling laptops with the prices u want , couldnt hurt to look 😉

  11. What you need the computer to do is more important than the brand. If you are going to be doing any serious editing on it and using a Final Cut, you will need:

    * A Macintosh computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4, PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor
    * 1GB of RAM
    * An AGP or PCI Express Quartz Extreme graphics card (Final Cut Studio is not compatible with integrated Intel graphics processors)
    * A display with 1024-by-768 resolution or higher
    * Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later
    * QuickTime 7.1.6 or later
    * A DVD drive for installation
    * A really big and fast external HDD.

    Other good programs that run in Windows are Sony’s Vegas, Edit Studio Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro. Requirement for the latter running In windows are given as:

    * 2GHz or faster processor for DV; 3.4GHz for HDV; dual 2.8GHz for HD*
    * Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 (Service Pack 3 recommended) or Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (certified for 32-bit Windows XP and 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista)
    * 2GB of RAM
    * 10GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on flash-based storage devices)
    * 1,280×900 display with OpenGL 2.0–compatible graphics card
    * Dedicated 7200 RPM hard drive for DV and HDV editing; striped disk array storage (RAID 0) for HD; SCSI disk subsystem preferred
    * For SD/HD workflows, an Adobe-certified card for capture and export to tape
    * OHCI-compatible IEEE 1394 port for DV and HDV capture, export
    * DVD-ROM drive (DVD+-R burner required for DVD creation)
    * Blu-ray burner required for Blu-ray disc creation
    * Microsoft Windows Driver Model– or ASIO-compatible sound card
    * QuickTime 7.4.5 software required to use QuickTime features
    * Broadband Internet connection required for online services

    A large screen is very helpul for editing and viewing and should be able to handle full 1080p HD video.

    I hope this helps.
